Taste and see the Goodness of the Lord!
We are most grateful to have at our Monastery this summer Bishop Daniel Flores of the Archdiocese of Detroit. Bishop Flores celebrated Mass and provided a wonderful homily. After Mass we were able to share a meal and get to better know one another. Bishop Flores is from Corpus Christi, Texas and is a very busy Bishop, especially as he tries hard to answer all of those daily emails! We look forward to seeing him again on his next visit!

The Dominican Sisters of Mt. Thabor have been blessed to receive an adopted Dominican brother into our family! Rev. Br. James Dominic Brent, OP was ordained a transitional Deacon in January 2009 and will be ordained a Priest in May 2010. He is currently at the Dominican House of Studies in Washington D.C. Br. James takes such good care of his Sisters. On the Feast of St. Dominic he came and preached a Holy Hour and Mass and he and his parents stayed for our annual Pot Luck. We enjoy our robust relationship with Br. James and thank God for this great blessing!

The sisters were also blessed to provide hospitality to our dear Sr. Sharon. Sr. Sharon Miller is a Glenmary Sister from Kentucky. She was in Michigan for a Mission Appeal. She spent a whole week with us and was so very generous in sharing with us her many stories and insights not only about being a Missionary Sister in rural Appalachia but also about being the Prioress for an active community. We call her our "Gray Dominican" because she wears gray (not white) and fit in so well with our community life of prayer and recreation.

This is Fr. Collins, a Priest from Nigeria. He came to visit our Monastery with Barbara Baumgart, who is from St. Benedict's Parish in Waterford, MI where Fr. Collins is helping the Church this summer. Fr. Collins was filled with joy as he visted our Monastery grounds and he was so good and patient as he answered all of our questions about life in Nigeria.
